AN EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED AT 280748Z SEP. PRELIMINARY MAG 7.9, PRELIMINARY LOCATION 15-03S 171-00W VICINITY OF SAMOA ISLANDS. A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO COASTS AND ISLANDS IN THE PACIFIC AREA. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND MAY BE A SERIES OF WAVES WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE ARRIVAL.
