Original warning text

FIVE SMALL BOATS (ESTIMATED 20 FEET IN LENGTH), TRAVELING IN EXCESS
OF 30 KNOTS IN "V" FORMATION, APPROACHED THE STERN OF M/V CAPE DOUGLAS
INBOUND STRAIT OF HORMUZ DURING THE DUSK HOURS ON 13 NOV. M/V CAPE
DOUGLAS HAD AN EMBARKED DOD FORCE PROTECTION TEAM ON BOARD, WHICH
DETERMINED THAT THE APPROACHING SMALL BOATS CONSTITUTED A THREAT TO
THE M/V CAPE DOUGLAS. THE TEAM FIRED WARNING SHOTS CONSISTING OF
FLARES AND SMALL ARMS INTO THE AIR AND AT THE WATER, WHICH DID NOT
DETER THE ATTACK. THE TEAM FIRED AND HIT THE BOATS WHICH RESULTED IN ALL
FIVE BOATS ABANDONING THE ATTACK WITHIN 50 YARDS OF M/V CAPE DOUGLAS
AND PROMPTLY DEPARTED THE AREA. VESSELS ADVISED TO MAINTAIN
ANTI-PIRACY WATCHES.
