AN EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED AT 072203Z OCT. PRELIMINARY MAG 8.0, PRELIMINARY LOCATION 13-00S 166-18W VICINITY OF VANUATU ISLANDS. A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO COASTS AND ISLANDS IN THE PACIFIC AREA. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND MAY BE A SERIES OF WAVES WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE ARRIVAL.
