A MERCHANT VESSEL REPORTED COMING UNDER FIRE IN 01-08S 062-28E (APPROXIMATELY 470 MILES NORTHEAST OF PORT VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES) AT 201530Z NOV. THE VESSEL WAS ATTACKED BY ARMED MEN ON BOARD A SKIFF WITH AK-47S AND RPGS. THE SECOND OFFICER WAS REPORTEDLY INJURED BY A PIECE OF SHRAPNEL AND WILL REQUIRE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. MARINERS ARE WARNED TO STAY CLEAR OF THIS AREA AS IT WILL REMAIN HIGH RISK FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS. WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN CONDUCIVE TO SMALL BOAT OPERATIONS DURING THIS TIME. CAUTION ADVISED.
