1. THE NATIONAL MARITIME SERVICE (NMS) OF PANAMA WISHES TO INFORM THE PUBLIC THAT THE EXERCISE PANAMAX 2005 IS BEING CONDUCTED IN THE VICINITY OF THE PANAMA CANAL AND ITS APPROACHES 04 THRU 17 AUG. THE OPERATION CONSISTS OF MULTI NATIONAL FORCES FROM ARGENTINA, CANADA, CHILE, COSTA RICA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, FRANCE, MEXICO, PERU, COLOMBIA, HONDURAS, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, URUGUAY AND NATIONAL SERVICES OF PANAMA. 2. OPERATIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED WITHIN 150 MILES OF 09-13N 079-52W AND EXTENDING SEAWARD INTO THE CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC OCEAN, INCLUDING THE COASTAL AND TERRITORIAL WATERS OF PANAMA. 3. DURING THE PERIOD OF 09 THRU 15 AUG MARINERS CAN EXPECT SHIPS AND AIRCRAFT FROM THE NAVIES OF THE PARTICIPATING NATIONS TO OPERATE WITHIN THE PREVIOUSLY DEFINED AREA. OPERATIONS WILL NOT RESTRICT NOR DISRUPT COMMERCIAL MARITIME ACTIVITIES. 4. IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, THE NMS WILL MAINTAIN A CONTINUOUS GUARD ON VHF CHANNEL 16 AND 08.
