SOUTHERN PACIFIC COASTAL AREAS. TSUNAMI WARNING. AN EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED AT 251317Z DEC. PRELIMINARY MAG 7.6, PRELIMINARY LOCATION 17-48S 168-18E VICINITY OF VANUATU. A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO COASTS AND ISLANDS IN THE PACIFIC AREA. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND MAY BE A SERIES OF WAVES WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE ARRIVAL.
