The majority of cargo in the hold was paper products and wood dunnage but the hold also contained three 20-inch containers of sodium cyanide, 236 one-ton bags of calcium oxide, and several drums of kerosene. A Unified Command was established with Houston Fire Department acting as OSC. By midnight the fire had been brought under control without damage to any of the hazardous cargo. USCG district 8.
