Humpback Whale Carcass; Santa Cruz, CA. Santa Cruz, CA. 1. On 06-AUG-2020, the NMFS Stranding Coordinator in CA contacted the NOAA SSC regarding a 30’ Humpback Whale carcass in the vicinity of Santa Cruz. It is expected that the carcass may be towed approximately 45-50 miles offshore tomorrow night (07-AUG-2020). NMFS requested a carcass drift estimate to aid in towing guidance discussions. 2.
