On February 23, 2021, the NOAA SSC was notified by the Virginia DEQ about a tanker truck accident on Rt 17 in Essex County, VA. that spilled 6500-7000 gallons of waste vegetable oil into Lewis Creek, which is a tributary to the Rappahannock River. VADEQ requested scientific support. 2. THREAT: OTHER. COMMODITY: VEGETABLE OIL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 7000 GALLONS. 3. POSITION 37.980N 076.960W.
