Spill from U.S. Naval Vessel during Transfer Operations, Norfolk, VA.
Pier 10, Decatur Ave, Norfolk, VA 23511, USA.
1. On January 13, 2023, the USCG Sector Virginia and US Navy notified the NOAA SSC that the USS MESA VERDE spilled an estimated 100 gallons of unknown oil due to a valve being left open during transfer operations at Norfolk Naval Station Pier 9.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: OIL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 100 GALLONS.
