Sheen Reported in Fishermen’s Bend, Statter Harbor, Auke Bay, Juneau, AK.
Auke Bay, Juneau, AK, USA.
1. On May 1, 2024, NOAA NMFS contacted the Alaska SSC for any information on sheen reported in Fishermen’s Bend/Statter Harbor, Auke Bay near Juneau, AK. NMFS biologists observed a sheen in the harbor but were not aware of USCG or ADEC response actions. The SSC contacted the USCG Sector Southeast AK, Incident Management who reported that they had investigated but were unable to determine a source. The sheen was weathering and dissipating and no further response actions were anticipated beyond monitoring. They requested NMFS forward copies of the photos they collected.
