F/V WESTERN ONE; Moss Landing.
Moss Landing.
1. At 1630 on September 10, 1987, the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety office, Alameda, California, was notified by Coast Guard Group, Monterey, that the 45-foot, wooden-hulled fishing vessel WESTERN ONE had lost power and run hard aground on the beach approximately 1 mile south of Moss Landing, where it was starting to break up. The vessel had approximately 350 gallons of diesel, one 55-gallon drum of lube oil, and several five-gallon drums of lube oil on board. The three fishermen on board had abandoned ship. The owner of the vessel took financial responsibility for salvage of the vessel and possible cleanup as a result of the spill. USCG district 11.
