Gordon Terminal Service; Bayonne, New Jersey. Bayonne, New Jersey. 1. On the night of November 22, 1987 Gordon Terminal Service, an oil and anti-freeze storage and packaging facility in Bayonne, New Jersey, caught on fire. Firefighting efforts to contain and extinguish the blaze resulted in runoff from water pumped onto the site. This runoff contained motor oil, automatic transmission fluid, ethylene glycol (antifreeze), and florosil dye. An estimated 38,000 gallons was spilled into the Kills (the area between Staten Island, New York and Bayonne) from approximately 2300 on November 22 till 0900 on November 24. USCG district 1. 2.
