1. On April 12, 1989, a fuel line ruptured at the Alameda County Transit Company in Emeryville, California, releasing an estimated 20,000 gallons of diesel fuel into a storm drain that empties into a marsh. By the time the leak was discovered on April 13, the ground had become saturated and the oil-water separator on the facility had malfunctioned. USCG district 11.
