1. On July 29, 1989 the tanker NORTHERN SUN ran aground in the Cape Cod Canal, Massachusetts. Initial attempts to refloat the tank vessel during the falling tide had failed. The vessel's tanks contained an estimated 882,000 gallons of gasoline. USCG district 1.
2. COMMODITY: GASOLINE. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 882000 GALLONS.
