1. On May 2, 1991, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Station Cape Charles received a report of oil in the water near Old Plantation Creek, Virginia. The product appeared to be 200 to 1,000 gallons of #6 oil, presumably spilled from the motor vessel PACI on April 29. A pollution response team was dispatched by the USCG Marine Safety Office (MSO) Hampton Roads. The team reported sea grass with heavy oil washed up along 1 mile of the north beach of Old Plantation Creek, but they saw no free floating oil. Oil samples were obtained and forwarded to the Coast Guard Oil Identification Laboratory (COIL) in New London, Connecticut. USCG district 5.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: #6 OIL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 1000 GALLONS.
