Wilmington, North Carolina.
1. At 0630 on December 29, 1997, the tug Captain Frank, sank in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 2 miles off Kure Beach near Wilmington, North Carolina. When the tug sank, 3000 gallons of diesel was lost from a damaged tank. There was a reported potential for 21,000 gallons of diesel from other fuel tanks onboard. USCG district 5. Keyword: none.
