1. On the morning of 18 Dec. 2001, the NOAA SSC was notified of an inbound tanker vessel (the T/V Dalmacija) grounded on a hard sand bottom within the SW Pass of the Mississippi River. The location is estimated at 14 miles below Head of Passes at approximately 28? 58.6 N Lat. and 089? 22.4 W Long. The vessel is fully loaded with Cerro Negro Crude (a heavy crude oil). Tugs has been contracted by the potential RP and are expected on scene mid-day. NOAA has been asked to provide weather and a trajectory forecast as contingency planning. USCG district 8.
