Tug Southern Cross; Buzzards Bay, MA.
Buzzards Bay, MA.
1. Tug Southern Cross began taking on water and was abandon sometime after 1300 EST on Nov 9th with 1500 gallons of diesel fuel and small amounts of other oils on board. SSC was contacted via the HDO, a verbal trajectory was produced and telephone consultation begun with the USCG and MA DEP. Minor sheening has been observed. Contractors and divers are enroute.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: DIESEL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 3000 GALLONS.
