GOM off Matagorda Island TX.
1. On 18 February 2009, NOAA was notified by the Texas General Land Office (TGLO) of an offshore gas and gas condensate release near Matagorda Island, Texas. The initial NRC report (#897816) stated that a 1 mile x 1 mile sheen was observed associated with a 24” natural gas line failure at a platform.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: NATURAL GAS AND CONDENSATE LIQUID.. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 5250 GALLONS. TAGS: PIPELINE.
