F/V Phyllis aground; South shore of Santa Cruz Island, CA. South shore of Santa Cruz Island, CA. 1. On the morning of 27SEP2011, the F/V Phyllis ran aground on the south shore of Santa Cruz Island, CA, within the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and the Channel Islands National Park boundaries. The vessel is believed to be carrying approximately 300 gallons of diesel fuel on board; though no release has been observed at this time. USCG Sector LA/LB contacted their NOAA SSC and requested trajectory support. 2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: DIESEL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 300 GALLONS. TAGS: GROUNDING. 3. POSITION 33.987N 119.648W.
