T/V Kate Maersk collision; Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans, LA. Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans, LA. 1. T/V Kate Maersk was struck by a barge and holed ( 4-6) in the engine fuel tank. Tanker is about 20 miles SE of the Mississippi River Mouth. There is a potential of about 20,000 gallons with an estimated leak rate of 1800 gallons/hours 2. THREAT: OIL. 3.
