Sunken Barge EMS 319; MM 92.5, Mississippi River, New Orleans.
MM 92.5, Mississippi River, New Orleans.
1. On April 20, 2016, USCG Sector NOLA notified the NOAA SSC of a sinking barge containing crude oil at MM 92.6 on the Lower Mississippi River. Barge has a capacity of 25,000 bbls. SSC has provided trajectory based on river flow estimates, and fate analysis for several types of crude oils.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: CRUDE OIL (SWEET LOUSIANA CRUDE). MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 1050000 GALLONS. TAGS: GROUNDING.
