F/V Sky Grounding in Izembek National Wildlife Refuge; near Cold Bay, AK.
    Near Cold Bay, AK.
    1. On 8/12/2024, USCG Sector Western Alaska & US Arctic contacted the SSC with an update on the grounding of the F/V Sky. The F/V Sky lost power and drifted aground on the beach. The vessel owner is working on a plan, no specific timeline set. No reports of a discharge. There is a potential 200 gallons onboard. USFWS had previously notified the SSC and USCG that the vessel is in or immediately outside of the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, West Wilderness Area.
    2. THREAT: OIL.
    3. POSITION 55.180N 163.113W. NOAA INCIDENTNEWS 10835: https://incidentnews.noaa.gov/incident/10835

Not for navigation. The name is read automatically from official navigational warnings; a common name can belong to more than one ship, and a message may describe work the vessel is doing (cable, survey) rather than something that happened to it. Mariners must use official NAVAREA broadcasts and their national MSI service.
