F/V Sky Grounding in Izembek National Wildlife Refuge; near Cold Bay, AK.
Near Cold Bay, AK.
1. On 8/12/2024, USCG Sector Western Alaska & US Arctic contacted the SSC with an update on the grounding of the F/V Sky. The F/V Sky lost power and drifted aground on the beach. The vessel owner is working on a plan, no specific timeline set. No reports of a discharge. There is a potential 200 gallons onboard. USFWS had previously notified the SSC and USCG that the vessel is in or immediately outside of the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, West Wilderness Area.
