Ongoing Air Discharge from Chemical Plant due to Power Outage, Westlake, LA.
Westlake, LA.
1. On February 10, 2022, MSU Lake Charles notified NOAA SSC about an ongoing air discharge at Westlake Chemicals, due to a power outage (NRC# 1328587, 1328589). Release is tri-, tetra-, and pentachloroethanes. Plant has evacuated all but essential personnel. MSULKC requested information about the chemicals in the release, including evacuation distances and vapor density. CAMEO chemical report and weather forecast provided.
