Bunker Oil Discharge from Tanker into Lower Mississippi River, Almedia, LA. Almedia, LA, USA. 1. On July 28, 2022, the tanker HAFNIA RHINE discharged an estimated 10-20 barrels of bunker oil into the Lower Mississippi River at mile marker 115 near Almedia, LA (approximately 15 miles upriver from New Orleans). The USCG requested a trajectory and on-site support. 2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: VLSFO. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 840 GALLONS. 3. POSITION 29.969N 090.282W.
