Diesel Spill from Fuel Tank at Fire Station; Point Lay, AK.
Point Lay, AK 99759, USA.
1. On December 14, 2023, the USCG Sector Anchorage requested SSC support in evaluating response tactics for a diesel spill in Point Lay, North Slope Borough, AK. A 2,200-gallon discharge was reported on 10/9/2023 from a fuel tank at the Fire Station. Fuel accumulated beneath the Fire Station, Community Center, and Telecommunications Center buildings. Presently, the RP is working to address vapor intrusion concerns in the Fire Station and Community Center and develop a long-term cleanup strategy for the contaminated soils beneath the buildings.
