Diesel Fuel Leak from Day Tank, Kivalina, AK. Kivalina, AK. 1. On December 16, 2021, the Northwest Arctic Borough School District reported that 1900 gallons of diesel fuel were discharged from a day tank due to a hole in the pipeline. The pipeline is beneath 14 feet of snow. The fuel is suspected to have leached into the soil beneath the pipeline. USCG Sector Anchorage requested NOAA SSC phone support regarding response. 2.
