Mystery Sheen, Ship Shoal 43; Gulf of America. Gulf. 1. On January 8, 2026, NOAA NESDIS (National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service) identified an anomaly in Ship Shoal 43, off the coast of Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. PHMSA (the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) and the State of Louisiana have initiated an effort to investigate the origin of this potential spill.
