Anomet Metal Company; Hayward, California. Hayward, California. 1. At 0800 on March 10, 1986, Anomet Metal Company employees discovered that four 20,000 gallon tanks had been damaged, releasing 80,000 gallons of 20% hydrosulfuric acid into a storm drain and the city sanitation system, both of which eventually lead to the San Francisco Bay. Approximately 6,000 gallons of nickel and aluminum phosphate in concentrations of 900 parts per million (ppm) were also spilled. USCG district 11. 2. COMMODITY: HYDROSULFURIC ACID (20%), NICKEL, ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 80000 GALLONS. 3. POSITION 36.671N 122.105W.
