1. Sometime late Friday night, the M/V Nancy D. Spanier with three barges in tow experienced a grounding accident near mile marker 60 in the Inter Coastal Waterway West near Houma, Lousiana. Coastal Barge 2509 has been holed in the number 1 port tank releasing the total contents of 2012 bbl (84,504 gallons). The product is a reduced crude with an API of 21.7. The Coast Guard has shut down the ICW and double boom has been deployed between mile markers 59 and 64. Product is reported in marsh grass areas. A meeting has been scheduled for 1100 on Monday, November 5th to formulate a cleanup strategy. SSC Chris Nelson has requested information and resources assistance on-scene. USCG district 8.
