Mystery Sheen Eugene Block 300; Gulf of Mexico, off LA. Gulf of Mexico, off LA. 1. On the morning of June 6, 2009, NOAA ERD was contacted by MSU Morgan City regarding a sheen offshore of Louisiana from an unknown source. The sheen was reported as approximately 10 miles by 4 miles. The reported position is approximately 65 nm from the nearest shoreline. 2. THREAT: OIL. TAGS: MYSTERY SUBSTANCE. 3. POSITION 28.201N 091.656W.
