Mystery Slick Observed (NRC 923762); Gulf of Mexico, Cameron Parish, LA. Gulf of Mexico, Cameron Parish, LA. 1. On Monday afternoon of November 16, 2009 (1611 hrs local time), the regional NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator was notified by Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur of a mystery slick observed roughly 10 nautical miles S of Cameron Parish Louisiana. The location was reported as West Cameron Block 73. The source of the release was unknown, but was reported as a silver sheen 300 yds wide by 6 miles long. 2. THREAT: OIL.
