High Island Block 536 Platform C; 80 miles SE of Freeport, TX (offshore). 80 miles SE of Freeport, TX (offshore). 1. On October 24, 2013, USCG contacted NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator about a discharge from an offshore oil platform located approximately 80 miles SE of Freeport, Texas. The incident was reported as a release of approximately 680 gallons of crude oil from a failure on a sump pump. Description of sheen was 5 miles by 600 feet. Spill trajectory information has been provided by NOAA Emergency Response Division. 2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: CRUDE OIL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 680 GALLONS. 3. POSITION 28.052N 094.450W.
