Leaking 1 inch Pipeline; High Isl Block 98L, TX. High Isl Block 98L, TX. 1. On On February 21, 2014, the USCG Marine Safety Unit in Texas City, TX, contacted the NOAA SSC about a leaking pipeline on an abandoned platform in High Island Block 98L, about 8 miles off Bolivar Point, TX. During routine operations, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) noticed a sheen and investigated. BSEE personnel landed their helicopter on the abandoned platform to discover 50 psi pressure on the abandoned well. A 1 inch pipeline on the platform is leaking and currently causing a 3-4 mile sheen. USCG contact NOAA to request a trajectory for this incident. 2. THREAT: OIL. TAGS: PIPELINE. 3.
