Vessel Fires; La Connor, Washington.
La Connor, Washington.
1. At approximately 10 PM on February 21, 2014 the NOAA SSC received notification from USCG Sector Puget Sound about a vessel fire that occurred in the Shelter Bay Marina in La Connor, Washington, on the Swinomish Channel that began around 5 PMT. Six pleasure craft, ranging from 45 to 62 feet, burned to the waterline. No one was hurt. There was a potential of 600 gallons of diesel or gas on each vessel. Fuel oil was observed leaking but booms were placed out quickly after the fire began and on-scene personnel believe that the fuel discharge is contained.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: DIESEL OR GAS. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 3600 GALLONS.
