Source report excerpt: “USCG Sector Baltimore provided SSC with an update. USCG conducted aerial overflight esrly this morning and di not observe any sheen. A USCG vessel out of Station Washington transitted the river and reported not observing any sheen. USCG instructed DC Fire Dept. to remove all hard boom to allow vessel traffice to resume. USCG beleives that sheen was related to heavy rains that the DC area has been experiencing for the past two days. Incident did receive some attention from local news media.”
