MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre)

A rescue coordination centre for maritime cases only, such as MRCC Fort-de-France or MRCC Vietnam.
Where a country runs separate centres for sea and air, the maritime one is an MRCC; a subordinate Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre is an MRSC. The MRCC's contact details at the end of a warning — telephone, e-mail, Inmarsat-C number — are where ships are asked to report sightings.
The name tells you who is coordinating, which is not always the country nearest the position: a vessel overdue between two island groups can be handled by the centre where the voyage was reported.
