NAVAREA XVII

NAVAREA XVII is one of five Arctic areas added to the World-Wide Navigational Warning Service in 2011, as shipping in the region grew. It covers the western Canadian Arctic and the Beaufort Sea; Canada coordinates it. Its traffic is seasonal, following the summer navigation season: survey work, scientific moorings and ice-related notices.
