1. Reports of "masses of gooey, kind of oily white particles" washing up onto the beaches of St George Island began on 8-Jun-2022. Several local observers have reported via email a white substance stranded on the shoreline. The NOAA SSC was included in the reports. Samples and photographs were taken to help determine the type of material.
