White Mystery Substance on Saint George Island, Pribilof Islands, AK. Saint George Island, Pribilof Islands, AK. 1. Reports of "masses of gooey, kind of oily white particles" washing up onto the beaches of St George Island began on 8-Jun-2022. Several local observers have reported via email a white substance stranded on the shoreline. The NOAA SSC was included in the reports. Samples and photographs were taken to help determine the type of material. 2. THREAT: OTHER. COMMODITY: MYSTERY. 3. POSITION 56.575N 169.548W.
