Discharge of Lubricating Oil into East River, New York, NY.
1802 20th Avenue, Astoria, NY 11105, USA.
1. At 10:00 am on 2 May 2024, USCG Sector New York notified the NOAA SSC about a 2,000 gallon discharge of lubricating oil into the East River due to an equipment failure at the Astoria Generating Power Plant. Source has been secured, OSRO on-scene with boom deployed. USCG requested a trajectory.
2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: LUBRICATING OIL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 2000 GALLONS.
