T/V Great Lakes; Arthur Kill, NJ. Arthur Kill, NJ. 1. At approximately 0500 EST February 22, 2005 the vessel Great Lakes touched bottom and began leaking oil near the west side of Pralls Island, continuing to leak at an unknown rate during its transit to Carteret, New Jersey. An estimated 2,500 gallons of diesel have been lost. 2. THREAT: OIL. COMMODITY: #2 DIESEL FUEL. MAXIMUM POTENTIAL RELEASE: 2500 GALLONS. TAGS: GROUNDING. 3. POSITION 40.600N 074.200W.
