ICW West of Intracostal City, LA.
1. On the morning of July 4th (Independence Day), the NOAA HAZMAT Duty Officer was notified by the USCG of a release of hydrochloric acid vapor from a barge. The location is reported 2.5 miles W of Intracoastal City, LA in the ICW. The cause of the release is vapor escaping from a “damaged bladder.”
2. THREAT: CHEMICAL. COMMODITY: HYDROCHLORIC ACID VAPOR.
