Source report excerpt: “The USS Port Royal was successfully freed between 0200 and 0300 this morning and then towed into Naval Station Pearl Harbor for further inspection, assessment, and development of repair plans. An overflight at first light indicated a small sheen, which dissipated within a few hours. NOAA ERD provided a trajectory forecast for the small oil sheen observed and a weather spot-forecast update. The U.S. Navy and US Coast Guard Sector Honolulu thanked NOAA ERD for the technical support and assistance during the incident response over the weekend.”
