Track line joining
Introduces a route through a series of positions — a cable route, a tow's track or a survey line.
"ALONG TRACKLINE JOINING 44-20N 063-30W, 43-50N 062-10W, …" describes a line, not an area: the route a cable ship, tow or survey vessel will follow. Hazards along the line — the ship itself, its tow or the equipment it lays — can be anywhere on it during the stated period.
A line has no width, so warnings sometimes add a distance either side; where they do not, seahazards draws a corridor around the line on the map so it can be seen and compared with routes.
What the archive shows
11,182 messages in this archive use “Track line joining”, the earliest issued 1993-06-03 and the latest 2026-09-23. 12 of them are in force in the latest lists we collected. A hazard reported again and again counts once per message.
The largest yearly count is 2013, with 837 messages. Collection is incomplete between 2024-05 and 2026-08-17, so 2024, 2025 and 2026 are not comparable with fully collected years.
Icebergs accounts for 4,167 of 11,182 recorded messages (37%), the largest warning type group in this selection.
