NAVAREA I

Coordinated by United Kingdom (UK Hydrographic Office); covers the north-east Atlantic around the British Isles, the North Sea and the Baltic.

NAVAREA I covers the busy waters of north-west Europe: the approaches to the English Channel, the Irish Sea, the seas west of Scotland and the North Sea, with the Baltic as a sub-area of its own. Its coordinator, the UK Hydrographic Office, also runs a large national series of coastal warnings (the "WZ" messages) for British waters.

seahazards does not collect the UK in-force list directly, because the UK Hydrographic Office publishes it under re-use terms that do not allow redistribution. NAVAREA I warnings appear in this archive only where the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency relayed them as HYDROLANTs, so the counts here understate the area's real volume.
