NAVAREA II
Coordinated by France (SHOM (Service hydrographique et océanographique de la Marine)); covers the eastern Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay south along West Africa.
NAVAREA II runs from the Bay of Biscay down the Atlantic coasts of Portugal, Morocco and West Africa into the Gulf of Guinea. France coordinates it through SHOM, and French regional authorities (the AVURNAV services of Brest and others) issue many of the local warnings behind it.
The area's in-force list is collected directly from SHOM's PING service, and older warnings come from NGA's HYDROLANT relays. Offshore oil and gas work in the Gulf of Guinea, military exercises off the French coast and survey operations make up much of its traffic.
