1. LIVESTOCK CARRIER IN BALLAST ENROUTE TO AUSTRALIA REPORTS ACT OF PIRACY VICINITY 03-18.5N 125-05.8E AT 070200Z JUN. PIRATES IN A SPEED BOAT CHASED AND OPENED FIRE MASTER TOOK EVASIVE MANEUVERS TO PREVENT BOARDING AND REDUCE CAUSALITIES TO CREW AND SHIP. MASTER INFORMED MANAGERS WHO IN TURN CONTACTED THE PIRACY REPORTING CENTRE FOR ASSISTANCE. THE CENTRE CONTACTED AUTHORITIES FOR ASSISTANCE. AFTER TWO HOURS OF CONTINUOUS FIRING AND CHASING, THE PIRATE BOAT ABORTED THE ATTEMPT. SHIP SUSTAINED SERIOUS DAMAGES TO BRIDGE, COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND HULL. CAUTION ADVISED. 2. CANCEL THIS MSG 23 JUN.
