A MERCHANT VESSEL REPORTED COMING UNDER FIRE IN 00-43.0S 061-57.8E AT 100200Z NOV, APPROXIMATELY 461 MILES NORTHEAST OF SEYCHELLES. TWO SKIFFS WITH SEVEN TO EIGHT ARMED MEN FIRED UPON THE VESSEL WITH AUTOMATIC WEAPONS. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE INCIDENT REPORTED IN 01-09S 061-35E ON 09 NOV. IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, AGGRESSIVE SMALL BOAT ACTIVITY AS INCREASED IN THE AREA BETWEEN 02-00N 07-00S AND 052-00E 062-00E. MARINERS ARE WARNED TO AVOID THIS HIGH RISK AREA IF POSSIBLE WHEN TRANSITING THE INDIAN OCEAN AS DOING SO WOULD PUT THE VESSEL IN IMMINENT RISK. WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THIS REGION CONTINUE TO BE CONDUCIVE TO CONDUCTING SMALL BOAT OPERATIONS. CAUTION ADVISED.
